Walk into 1L already
knowing how to win it.
Your professors will teach you the law. They won't teach you how to survive law school: how to read, brief, outline, and crush exams. This course does, before your first class even starts.

Here's what nobody tells you before 1L:
The smartest people in the room still struggle. Not because they aren't capable, but because law school doesn't work like anything they've done before. It doesn't reward memorization. It doesn't reward how hard you work. It doesn't even tell you the rules of the game it's grading you on.
So you show up in August, drowning in reading you don't know how to do, briefing cases the slow way, building outlines too late, and walking into a final exam format you've never seen, all while telling yourself everyone else somehow gets it.
They don't get it either. They're just as lost. The students who do well aren't smarter. They figured out the system.
Most incoming 1Ls try to learn the strategy of law school at the same time they're learning the substance (Contracts, Torts, Civ Pro, all of it) in real time, under pressure, while being cold-called.
That's two full-time jobs at once. It's why first semester feels like free fall.
What if you arrived already knowing the strategy?
What if reading cases, briefing efficiently, outlining, and approaching an issue-spotter exam were already second nature, so the only thing you had to focus on in the fall was actually learning the law your professors teach?
That's the entire point of this course. You learn the skill of digesting law school this summer, so in the fall you only have to learn
the law.

The Summer Before 1L: The Law School Strategy Course
The complete strategy system for your first year, built for the summer before you start.
Six self-paced modules. Pre-recorded video you can watch on your schedule. Every framework, template, and checklist you need to walk in calm, organized, and a full step ahead.

This is for you if:
You're an incoming 1L starting law school this fall
You want a career in big law and you know your 1L grades are EVERYTHING
You've heard 1L horror stories and don't want to be the cautionary tale
You're a first-gen law student with no one in your corner who's done this before
You want to start ahead instead of spending first semester catching up
You feel excited but also a little (or a lot) terrified
Ut Repellat Officiis
Est Velit In Nisi
This is NOT for you if:
You want someone to teach you Contracts or Torts doctrine before school. That's your professors' job, and they all teach it differently. This course teaches you the skills and systems that make learning that doctrine dramatically easier.
What's Inside

Module 1: How Law School Actually Works
Understanding the game before classes start.
Stop approaching 1L like undergrad. You'll learn how the curve really works, why finals are almost everything, what professors are actually rewarding, and the hidden rules nobody hands you. By the end, you'll understand what success in law school truly looks like, and why so many smart students struggle without this.

Module 2: How to Think Like a Law Student
Learning the language of legal analysis.
Legal thinking isn't normal academic thinking. You'll learn what "analysis" actually means, get introduced to IRAC and legal writing structure, learn to argue both sides, spot legally significant facts, and start building the mental muscles of issue spotting, before a professor ever calls on you.

Module 3: How to Read and Brief Cases Efficiently
Stop reading like an undergrad.
This is where most 1Ls quietly lose ten hours a week. You'll learn the anatomy of a case, what actually matters versus what doesn't, and Danielle's simplified briefing method so you can brief for class and exams without drowning in highlighter.
You get: a case briefing template, a sample annotated case, and the simplified briefing framework.

Module 4: Study Systems, Time Management, and Outlining
The systems that make students successful.
Build the structure before the stress hits. Time-blocking, sustainable study routines, and the difference between class notes, outlines, attack outlines, and rule sheets, plus exactly how and when to build each one.
You get: a weekly planning template, an outline template, an attack outline template, and a time-blocking schedule.

Module 5: How Law School Exams Really Work
The part nobody explains properly.
The whole game comes down to one exam, in a format you've never seen. You'll learn what issue-spotter exams actually test, how they're graded, the common mistakes that tank grades, and most importantly, how to actually write a structured exam answer under time pressure, the single skill that separates top scorers from everyone else.
You get: mini issue-spotting drills, sample exam walkthroughs, and weak-vs-strong answer comparisons.

Module 6: The First Week and 1L Survival Guide
Enter law school calm, organized, and prepared.
The practical and mental prep: what to buy versus skip, how to set up your tech and calendars, how to handle the Socratic method and cold calls, what to do when you don't know the answer, and how to manage the comparison culture and anxiety without burning out. You get: a first-week checklist, a law school setup guide, tech recommendations, and a cold-call prep sheet.

Imagine it's August. Your classmates are panicking in the group chat about how to brief a case and what an outline even is.
You already know. You've got your templates. You've got your system. You're not guessing, you're executing. And while everyone else spends first semester trying to figure out how to do law school, you spend it actually learning the law.
That's the head start this course gives you.

About Danielle
Hi, I'm Danielle. I went to the University of Miami, where I completed the dual JD/MBA program, and I did it with three kids under seven and a decade-old business with twelve employees to run. Balancing real life with law school taught me something fast: there was so much about how to do 1L that I figured out far later than I should have.
Even while piecing it together, I made it work. I landed a Big Law summer internship with an offer from a New York firm, interned for two semesters with a fintech company out of San Francisco, worked with entertainment attorneys in California, and interned with a five-star luxury hospitality brand in Miami. I passed the Florida bar on my first try, and went on to practice mergers and acquisitions and entertainment law. Today I own my own firm, practicing corporate law for small and medium-sized businesses.
Here's where you come in. While I was studying for the bar, I kept realizing there was still information no one had handed me, things that would have made all the difference if I'd learned them sooner. So I started sharing what I knew. What began as First Gen Law by Danielle, now Law School Simplified, grew into a community of 1,500 law students and nearly 20,000 followers, and I built every digital product in it based on what they actually asked me for.
Since then I've worked directly with over 300 law students to help them through 1L. This course is the culmination of all of it: the advice, the frameworks, and the strategies that have helped those students the most, in one place, ready for you before you ever walk in.

FAQ
"Isn't this just stuff I'll learn in orientation or during 1L anyway?"
"Are you teaching me Contracts, Torts, etc.?"
"I haven't started law school yet. Is it too early?"
You'll learn some of it the slow, painful, expensive way, by trial and error during the most high-stakes semester of your life. This course front-loads it so you start ahead instead of catching up. The students who already know this system are the ones at the top of the curve.
No, and on purpose. Your professors teach doctrine, and every professor teaches differently. This course teaches the skills and systems (reading, briefing, outlining, exam strategy) that make learning any professor's doctrine far easier. (The fast-action bonus does give you a high-level overview of each subject so you know what's coming.)
This is the perfect time. The entire point is to build these skills before you're under pressure, so the summer is exactly when this works best.
